Why Do I Want To Do This?Knowing your motherboard’s model number is important if you’re thinking of upgrading your drivers, buying new hardware (you’ll need the proper expansion or memory slots, for example), or just checking the capabilities of your board if you’re considering upgrading your whole rig.If you kept the paperwork that came with your computer (or the individual components, if you built it yourself), you can often times reference that. Even then, it’s best to check to make sure the documentation is correct. Rather than open the case and search for the model number on the board itself, use tools within Windows to check things out instead.
Check Your Model Number with SpeccyIf you’d prefer a GUI-based way to check your motherboard’s model number (as well as a method that yields more information at a glance than the WMIC tool), you can grab the free tool. It’s a handy app to have around. After downloading and installing Speccy, go ahead and fire it up.You can see the motherboard model number right on the summary page, along with it’s current operating temperature (assuming your board includes that).
You can also see basic details about other system components.Click over to the “Motherboard” tab on the left to see even more information about your motherboard, including details about the chipset and voltages, along with the types of slots included on the board and whether or not they’re currently in use. !functionvar n,e,a,t,s,i;if((n=document.getElementById('site-navigation'))&&void 0!(e=n.getElementsByTagName('button')0))if(void 0!(a=n.getElementsByTagName('ul')0))for(a.setAttribute('aria-expanded','false'),-1a.className.indexOf('nav-menu')&&(a.className+=' nav-menu'),e.onclick=function-1!n.className.indexOf('toggled')?(n.className=n.className.replace(' toggled','),e.setAttribute('aria-expanded','false'),a.setAttribute('aria-expanded','false')):(n.className+=' toggled',e.setAttribute('aria-expanded','t.

It's a repeated question;I want to get bios serial number.I had a code, and it worked, but unfortunatlly NOT now!maybe because of new version of delphi (7), or WindowsXP, or my hardware! I don't know.here is my code:function GetBiosInfoAsText: string;varP, Q: PAnsiChar;beginQ:= nil;P:= PChar(Ptr($FE000));repeatif Q nil then beginif not (P^ in #10, #13, #32.#126, #169, #184) then beginif (P^ = #0) and (P - Q = 8) then beginResult:= Result + TrimRight(string(Q)) + #13#10;end;Q:= nil;end;end elseif P^ in #33.#126, #169, #184 thenQ:= P;Inc(P);until P PChar(Ptr($FFFFF));Result:= TrimRight(Result);end;I will thank you for your attention. I tried the code on my system at work, using Delphi 5. It could be that this makes a difference. I've created a VBScript version of the query which looks like this:'-Dim refWMIServiceDim colBIOSDim refItemSet refWMIService = GetObject( 'winMgmts:' )set colBIOS = refWMIService.ExecQuery( 'select SerialNumber from Win32BIOS' )for each refItem in colBIOSWScript.echo 'Serial number: ' & refItem.SerialNumberNext'-The above code should display the right serial number. If this too is a space then I think your BIOS serial number is indeed a space.
On my system, I get a value of SerialNumber = SYS- which is a pretty typical number too.You could replace 'Win32BIOS' in the query with 'CIMBIOSElement' but I just get the same value. So, thinking there might be a flaw in this, I just used 'Computer Management' to check the serial number there. But on W2K I don't see any serial number there. If you want to use some BIOS value as part of some copy-security, maybe you should use SMBIOSBIOSVersion or BIOSVersion (requires XP) instead of the SerialNumber. Signs to study for drivers license renewal.
Motherboard Serial Number Utility
Thank you very much, you may right that my SerialNumber is ' '.Can you help me on how to check it in 'Computer Management'?As a matter of fact I just need an unique code. When I use SMBIOSBIOSVersion or BIOSVersion in your previous delphi code, it raised an exception EVariantTypeCastError with message 'Could not convert variant of type (Dispatch) into type (String)'.and when I use 'CIMBIOSElement' istead of 'Win32BIOS' it raised exception EOleException with message 'Invalid query'.It would be very good for me to do the operation in Delphi instead of VBScript.
